NO, I would not ban this book. Unfortunately, censorship has universally been practiced since ancient times. Even Socrates was during his time condemned and executed because his teachings were believed to be immoral. Censorship, the enforced suppression and restriction of free expression is an issue of human shame born of fear and superstition.
But consider me a free speech fanatic. As Supreme Court Justice William O. Douglass wrote in a classic 1-8 dissent, "I intrepret the first amendment that reads 'Congress shall make no laws abridging free speech' to mean 'Congress shall make no laws abridging free speech'.
Ibelieve passionate and competent English teachers do make differences in the lives of many. I know how hard it can be to learn a foreign language as an adult because I was one of the ESL students myself (a Korean). Now I am developing a methodology specifically for Koreans who struggle with English – they are notorious for being slow in that matter. I understand the peculiar set of problems they face and what the solutions can be – again, first-hand experience helps.
